For many of us Knight is best remembered for his influence on the concept to 'picturesque' and his phallus paper is a sideshow. Don't you think that is the right weight for these two occupations of his? User:Wetman

I'm not sure what you are implying - the great majority of this entry is about his theory of the picturesque. There is only one paragraph on the phallus theory. Are you referring to sentence about what he is 'best known' for? Im happy to change that, but I think it is something distinctive to him. Knight did not create the concept of the picturesque. Paul B

Richard Payne Knight's writings about Priapus and Eros were informative and influential for Freud. Knight's research is both groundbreaking and scholarly. Dr Janine Burke. 16 September 2014.
