Chronology[edit]

NHK was started in 1926, modeled after the BBC radio company. ?? In 1926, the BBC was a private company (the British Broadcasting Company). The state-chartered British Broadcasting Corporation (if it was the model for NHK) did not come into existence until 1927. Does anyone have any more precise details on NHK chronology? -- Picapica 20:21, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Old NHK did start in 1926. It was re-chartered in 1950, so NHK as it's known today goes back to 1950. That's where the confusion comes from.--76.21.81.118 00:46, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable programs[edit]

I'd like to see some non-anime notable programs in the list. If anyone with more knowledge of NHK's offerings could step up and add some, I'd appreciate it. --Zippy 23:20, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the notable programs are generically described in the "TV Programming" section. I don't think it means much to list news shows and sumo sportscast shows by title. News, serial dramas, and music shows are in fact NHK's most popular shows.--76.21.81.118 00:46, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need information on NHK domestic radio[edit]

Could someone please provide a description of NHK's domestic radio services? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.20.8.70 (talk) 17:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The article is conspicuously short at present of information concerning NHK's domestic radio networks. It would be much appreciated if anyone could supply more. --Picapica (talk) 13:31, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If everyone agrees - I have a copy of WRTH, from which I could try to hatch out a brief description of NHK domestic radio. Of course, any help from Japanese Wikipedians would be appreciated. From what I've been reading, NHK Radio 1 is probably comparable to CBC Radio One or BBC Radio 4, whilst NHK Radio 2 sometimes relays programming in foreign languages from Radio Japan and is probably comparable to NPR and BBC Radio 3. As for the NHK's "FM Network" - WRTH doesn't say much. Still, that's probably enough for a description, so long as I cite the WRTH, right? --Daniel Blanchette (talk) 17:48, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Section on Viewer Fees needs cleaning up[edit]

The section explaining the background of the viewer fee system and its controversy is very Engrishy in its wording, and needs cleaning up as well as citations of sources. Regrettably some nonpayers are mannerless sounds like NHK's opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The2belo (talkcontribs) 06:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stupid[edit]

Why this article uses {{Infobox TV channel}}, rather than a proper {{Infobox Broadcasting network}}?--JSH-alive (talk)(cntrbtns)(mail me) 12:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is mentioned as a TV series that NHK produced on a disambig, does anyone have any information about it? Tyciol (talk) 21:22, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Skip Back Camera[edit]

If one googles the term "Skip-back Camera" all the results lead to this article. This term needs confirmation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.174.40.112 (talk) 16:41, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Criticisms section should be added[edit]

There are several pieces of criticism frequently attributed to NHK practices, especially reception fee, floating around on the internet. 1) Reception fee collection agency uses force, poor manners, and occasionally breaks the law in attempting to collect fees. 2) The fee system changes wildly from one year to the next, and several lawsuits have been pursued including one against Toyoko Inn chain which involved a fee increase of almost 50 million yen a month. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Basroil (talkcontribs) 02:52, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nippon Hikikomori Kyokai[edit]

Is the actual name of NHK Nippon Hikikomori Kyokai? 81.162.216.13 (talk) 16:54, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2014 World War II documentary controversy - source?[edit]

This section has quite a lot of information and the incident does indeed seem notable, however I cannot find ANY reference to either the existence of this documentary, its content or any controversy regarding it. I would usually immediately remove such content, but if true then this section should definitely remain. Perhaps someone who speaks Japanese could check for a local source confirming this? For now I just tagged the section appropriately. Photon Man62 (talk) 02:07, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have done a quick search regarding this documentary, in both English and Japanese and I cannot find ANY reference to the documentary, it's content, or any controversy about it as well. The most recent "controversy" that NHK was involved in that I found has nothing to do with any documentary that NHK has aired, and more the statements made by the person heading it. - Zabuza825 (talk) 01:51, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to go ahead and remove it until such time as the claim can be sourced. Willhesucceed (talk) 12:32, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ametaphysicality deserves a documentary[edit]

The ametaphysical/antimetaphysical/non-metaphysical/unmetaphysical person doesn't believe that the verb believe is able to define or describe the Universe without data. The noun and adjective ametaphysical is a hypernym of the noun atheist and the adjective atheistic. Some godless people believe in non-scientifically accepted myths and theories, the ametaphysical doesn't. The ametaphysical doesn't have to be a Communist; most analytical philosophers don't obay strict rules of others. Many Japanese people are ametaphysical, but don't use the word. Not all Japanese have a single opinion. Japanese people aren't a mass, but have individual ideas. Japanese people are very intelligent. I allow NHK to hate me. I repeat, I allow you to hate me as much as you wish. I don't allow you not to study our case of ametaphysics/ametaphysicality. I even allow you to say negative things about my philosophically fellow citizens. I will NEVER allow you to stop being Japanese. You must act Japanese. Study and record our ametaphysical case. The Japanese thinker studies everything and is the best analytically! I absolutely allow you to hate me! I will NEVER but NEVER allow you to stop being Japanese!!! Record my ametaphysical case. In a Japanese thus thorough manner. Inside the Japanese mind I dwell. The Japanese intellect is my home. I prefer to be hated inside my home, than to have no home! I don't care if you metaphorically fist my face. I want the Japanese philosophical analysis to be expanded. We study and record analytically all data. The world is complicated. We first study analytically and then discover the causality which created each philosophical path. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2149:8413:F00:9480:9376:AF44:76EA (talk) 03:00, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Compliance and crimes"[edit]

I deleted this section because the writing is of such poor quality as to be incomprehensible in places; it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Google Translate paste job. I will, later, see what I can do to rescue it, but right now it is definitely Not Ready for Prime Time. PaulCHebert (talk) 18:07, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for removing incomprehensible content. The SP master is known for adding OR. Please see [1]. JimRenge (talk) 00:46, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
