Very Human-centric[edit]

Understandably, this article mainly focuses on human friendship, as that is what we first associate with the term.

However, as the last part of the article points out & numerous other articles make reference to, friendship isn't an exclusively human concept.

I think this article would benefit from either expanding its scope to encompass the large animal kingdom, or at least renaming the article to "human friendship" to help clarify the distinction.

I'm also open to other solutions, I just found it a bit weird that we have articles such as "Interspecies friendship" that fully acknowledges the concept as a general social state for numerous species, while the friendship article itself is 99% human-focused, with even the opening line describing it as a bond between people (humans) specifically. 2403:5808:8038:0:5944:555E:A362:3AB (talk) 00:07, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Additions/edits[edit]

Hi, I'd like to make some edits to the childhood, forming and maintaining, and interspecies sections of this wiki. For these sections, I'll mostly be adding some more recent work on these topics and not really making edits to sentences that are already there. The interspecies section will be very different from the current version since I'll incorporate comparative animal research on friendship/alliances. I'm also going to add a section on evolutionary approaches to friendship and a section under that on friendship jealousy. Evolutionary approaches section will provide some theories about friendship since this wiki page is currently lacking any theories on friendship. Additionally, adding a section on friendship jealousy will be of much interest to people who visit the page and the research on the topic is rather new. I copied over from my sandbox User:NRodbruin/Friendship the Evolutionary Approaches, Friendship jealousy, and Non-human friendship sections. The non-human friendship section was formally titled Interspecies but I think Non-human friendship fits better. Added paragraph into the Childhood section, didnt make any changes to existing sentences. Added a paragraph on friendship preferences after first sentence in the forming and maintaining subsection.
