Attention SECOND NOTICE: Reverting to previous edit is PLAGIARISM and presents erroneous information. Whoever was originally working on this article has confused the TOWN of Geneseo with the VILLAGE of Geneseo. EG: The Town is not the county seat, but the village is, and the college is in the village not the town. All the history material was robbed directly from the Village/Town webpage. Folks, this is called plagiarism! Tmesipt.

Previous comment about the error between town and village appears to be correct. Maybe someone should look into the plagiarism issure too.

I saw this Town-Village issue on the problem page, so I cleaned it up a little after looking over the page history. This is a common problem in NY where many Towns and Incorporated Villages have the same name. There should be no problem in having a page for each, since almost every county in NY has separate pages for Towns and Villages. The real problem here is that someone wants to merge village and town information, so I cleaned that up a bit too. Also, the above reference to plagiarism is correct: someone has taken material from the Village and Town webpage and put the statements into the articles. I will leave this issue to be resolved by someone else.

This article appears on a page of proposed mergers along with Town of Geneseo. The confusion originated with the one of the original writers, who thought, or at least treated, both entities as one place. These are TWO different places, the village being inside the town, so no merger is needed or desirable. However, additions, corrections, augmentations, etc. are always useful.
