Coast Guard Flight Officer[edit]

I found several links to pictures [1] of a Coast Guard Flight Officer Badge, but nothing to signify what a CGFO does in the Coast Guard, whether it's an officer or enlisted qualification, or even if this is still an open career path. Although I trained with Coast Guard Student Naval Aviators when I went through flight school, I can attest that there are no Coast Guard Student Naval Flight Officers amongst the USN, USMC, and German Navy SNFO's, or USAF, Saudi, Singapore, German, and Italian Air Force Student Navigators that I currently instruct at NAS Pensacola, Florida. Anyone have more info on Coast Guard Flight Officers that could be used to create a nice stub? Chris 19:24, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)

It was hard to find info about it, but the CG Historian's Office had a little which said it was a badge mainly used in the 1920s and 1930s. I wrote an article based on what I had. I found a reference to the badge being awarded in the 1980s but it apparently was a special case. Husnock 6 Oct 2004
