Sorting by von[edit]

Why are two people with "von" names sorted by their first name? Surely this has to be the worst choice. Standard American sorting would put them under V. Is there any English language system that would put them another letter. I know that the Dutch system and I assume the German one would skip the von and put them the main portion of the name. Are there English language system which do this also? Rmhermen 15:32, Jul 2, 2004 (UTC)
