I would like to request any further additions to the "Sports and Extracurricular" section to be made as fluid as possible. It is sometimes very hard to read as various achievements are mixed with other sports. Damneinstien 07:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copying the discussion from the Naperville Central page to this page, as the information is still valid, as long as someone keeps incorrectly altering the nicknames for the various portions of the building, and getting their construction chronology incorrect.

The "FLAT WING" is an ADDITION. The "THREE STORY WING" or whatever they're calling it these days, is the 1950s building, the old Naperville Community High School. The Dedication plaque was STILL THERE in the early 1990s.

The "three story wing" still is called the same today (December, 2004). And the school has had several different names! When the alumni web team put together the database we left one of the names out and it caused confusion for some of our older graduates! So, yes, NCHS has been known as: Naperville Community High School, Naperville High School, and Naperville Central High School. The dedication plaque for the original building has never been moved or changed. We now have a couple more in addition to that original one from 1952.

It may be of interest to some that we also have several "temporary" or "portable" additions to our building to house the extra 305+ students we have now. There are six classrooms in a "portable" sitting at the rear of the current structure (in the "courtyard" of the the three story wing") sort of in the middle of a parking area looking down towards the football field). The additional two classrooms are in the grassy area just off the "flat wing" near Aurora Ave. After so many additions to the building it was assumed we would not need to house more than 2700 students. However, we keep growing!

I hope this helps with some of the concerns about our school. It is a great place to work and learn!

Possible new text sections[edit]

Foreign exchanges: The German classes did (do?) exchanges with the Humboldt Gymnasium in Solingen, Germany. The French and Spanish classes had (have?) active exchanges as well. The school has also hosted many exchange students on semester/year-long exchanges. --JohnDBuell 20:31, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Established" date[edit]

The current building was constructed/dedicated in 1952, but the Naperville Community High School dates back much further. How much further I couldn't tell you without contacting someone at NCHS, but the old High School was on Washington Street prior to completion of the current building.... --JohnDBuell 21:10, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools after a request. This is a long article and I am giving it C-class for now. For B-class and higher the article will need improved referencing, some sections are missing references completely or at least have gaps. The referencing should probably also be reorganised to use {{cite web}} and other templates if possible. The lead could be a bit longer, as well as the history section if it is correct the school goes back to 1863, the current history section is only going back to the 1950s. For importance this seems borderline between mid and high, the high importance group is rather exclusive so the requirements are high. The mummy and alumni are certainly good signs of importance but I am not fully convinced on giving high importance at this time. Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2013 US News rankings are out[edit]

Central came in third of the three Naperville high schools (counting Neuqua, but not WVHS or MVHS). State Rank is #35 (http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/illinois/rankings?int=c0b4c1), national rank is #919. --JohnDBuell (talk) 17:36, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
