Untitled[edit]

How are the following items pertinent to U.S. history?

  1. 1494-Treaty of Tordesillas
  2. 1513-Vasco Nunez de Balboa crosses isthmus of Panama, sees Pacific Ocean
  3. 1519-Hernán Cortés defeats Tlaxcala, a small state within the Aztec empire
  4. 1520s-Spanish begin conquest of Maya civilization
  5. 1521-Cortes destroys the Aztec empire
  6. 1524-Giovanni da Verrazano, working for France, explores coastline from present-day North Carolina to Maine

They might be part of the history of North America or Central America...but of the U.S.? I don't agree. Kingturtle 03:25, 9 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Well, surely the Verrazano mention. RickK 03:29, 9 Nov 2003 (UTC)

article name change[edit]

I've changed it from (Beginnings to 1599) to (Before 1600). Beginnings to 1599 is misleading and inaccurate. Kingturtle 17:49, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Missing a lot of history[edit]

What about the Viking colonization 400 years prior to Columbus' discovery? How about the NATIVE history?

This article's title is a misnomer[edit]

The United States of America DID NOT EXIST in the 1400s, so talking about its history in that period is nonsensical. The article should be renamed "Timeline of North American pre-history" and hsould incorporate native as well as European events - PocklingtonDan 06:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vikings in N.A.?[edit]

I know it's not that confirmed, but shouldn't there be an entry about them in this timeline?--216.67.42.81 23:14, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
