pre-automatic dictatorship appears to have been determined to be a nonexistant subject, and will probably soon be deleted. Should the reference to it be removed from this article as well?

Probably - if the term dosen't exist, it doesn't exist. The entire paragraph the link is in also should be removed because it is just a lead-in. --maveric149

What is the justification for having the legal term automatism as the main subject? --Daniel C. Boyer

It's intended to encourage someone to write a real article on Automatism. -- Anon.

This comment provides further justification for the inclusion of an article on the pre-automatic dictatorship. --Daniel C. Boyer

Just a note: See http://www.britannica.com/eb/article?eu=11504&hook=231668 (Britannica article on automatism).
I am not saying that Britannica is the be-all and end-all authority but if you read it here or look it up in the actual encyclopedia the article on automatism is only on surrealist automatism and then there is an article on mediumistic automatism and there is nothing about the legal theory of automatism at all. This is just one example but I have yet to hear any real justification for mentioning the legal theory first and not vice versa. --user:Daniel C. Boyer
As I have gotten no real justification in the past week for this rewrite, I am switching back the places of the legal and surrealist/mediumist definitions of automatism. Any thoughts? --Daniel C. Boyer

Added information on Les Champs Magnetiques. --Daniel C. Boyer

Should mention of Les Automatistes be included? --Daniel C. Boyer

Automatic writing?[edit]

It is not clear to me that this area of pseudoscience is referred to as "automatism" typically. I have checked a half dozen references to confirm this.--Filll (talk | wpc) 21:34, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
