GNAA article[edit]

It appears that I am being reverted somewhat senselessly. However, in the interests of fair play I would like to ask whether you think my my additions to the article are relevant, neutral and informative. Am I being unreasonable to add this material? Chocolateboy has added very little the talk page, and appears to have "camped" on the article, and not let anyone else contribute to it. I would very much appreciate your feedback! - Ta bu shi da yu 11:43, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I can't really see anything wrong with them. The only problem I can think of is that the wording of "The terms "Association of America" is" is a bit awkward, mixing plural and singular (I'd probably change terms -> term); certainly nothing revert-worthy. --Dave2 11:59, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Cool... I'll look into sorting that soon. - Ta bu shi da yu 05:25, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stardock/Uplink[edit]

Given that Introversion are still their own publisher, and thus the only link to Stardock is North-American publishing, I don't feel that the {{stardock}} template should be applied to the Uplink article. It makes it seem that Stardock have a much more involved role to have such a huge template, just for the NA publisher. --Dave2 12:07, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I put it there because it is a member of the template, as to be complete I believe the template should have all TotalGaming.net games (not just the ones developed by Stardock, which are about 1/4 of them), but I can see your point. If you think it is not valid then you should remove it and I will not re-add without further evidence of involvement with the development.
Oh, and hello to a fellow (past) Bath citizen! :-) I was in the class that graduated a year ago (although from the uni, not the college). GreenReaper 13:39, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've also adjusted Template:Stardock to show a difference between the games developed and published by Stardock. GreenReaper 14:34, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No such thing as OGG autio format?[edit]

What exactly do you mean when you say that there's no such thing as an OGG audio format, and that it's just a container? I'm talking about your edit in the MaSu article. -D14BL0

Basically, Ogg isn't a codec; Vorbis is. Ogg is a standardised file format to contain multimedia data, but it doesn't actually specify what the data is; Vorbis is its most common contents, but there are also Ogg files which are a combination of Vorbis audio and Theora video - for example, Systm distributes Ogg Theora files. FLAC also supports Ogg output, whereby it's FLAC data in an Ogg container. Theoretically I guess you could even put MP3 data in an Ogg container, unless there's some technical reason stopping it. Hopefully this made sense, and I've not just confused you. --Dave2 18:39, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:MDK2 screenshot, Kurt shooting.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MDK2 screenshot, Kurt shooting.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:MDK2 Packshot.jpeg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MDK2 Packshot.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Worms 4 Mayhem Screenshot.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Replaceable fair use Image:Tvtime screenshot.png[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Tvtime screenshot.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 11:00, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
