Morecambe Bay[edit]

If you look at http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Morecambe%20Bay, you'll see a declaration at the bottom of the page that they copy from Wikipedia. Average Earthman 10:00, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Quackery category[edit]

Hi!

I noticed you're making some modifications in the field of quackery and pseudo-science. This classification was discussed at some length on the mailing list in June and July. Here, for example, is a message I wrote:

http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2005-June/025380.html

I was unsuccessful in obtaining a consensus for moving the homeopathy article into the quackery category. I wish you good luck.

- Haukurth 20:34, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I didn't even know there was a mailing list where this sort of thing was discussed. I've tried to sign up to it but the page appears to be down at the moment. Anyway, Homeopathy clearly belongs in the quackery category as it's a quack therapy. Seems fairly simple. :) --StoatBringer 12:25, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Some people feel that saying it's quackery is too disparaging and not "neutral" enough. You don't have to sign up for the mailing list to discuss things like this, in fact it's mostly used for administrative issues - most of which are quite boring :) But good luck telling the truth on ineffective medical treatments. - Haukurth 15:12, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On that one, you should have put a {{afd}} tag at the top. I was wondering where that was until I edited the top article. I doubt it'll get speedied unless you give a reason specific at WP:CSD. I'll see what I can do to help. Karmafist 00:56, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed my vote on this AfD to keep, based on evidence of radio play, record releases, and tours that leads me to believe that this band is sufficiently notable to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia. BD2412 T 02:42, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please give a reason why your marked Image:Ravi.jpg for speedy deletion? Use {{db|reason}} to do the same. Thanks. --PamriTalk 12:32, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I marked it for deletion because there were three images (I marked all three), almost exactly the same and with similar names, which were not linked to by any articles. --StoatBringer 12:36, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Are you sure those images weren't accidentally orphaned? - Mgm|(talk) 12:38, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think we both agree that the article isn't very good to have, but I advise you not to blank articles and then putting a speedy deletion request on them based on the fact that they're empty — we do check the history. Such things could earn you a bad reputation. Please read the Wikipedia:Deletion policy and request the article to be deleted normally. Or get Luella to ask for a speedy deletion. ;) --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 11:49, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my, it wasn't you! Sorry. The article was empty because the creator had blanked it before. I'll fix that and ask why it was blanked; probably the original editor doesn't know how to ask for it. My mistake. --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 11:54, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Phoebe Philo[edit]

Hi, I just speedy deleted the article; however, as in the case above, the author himself blanked the content - anyways, the content was a copyvio and had to be deleted. Next time when you nominate an article for CSD, please check the history of the article. Thanks for the heads up. --Gurubrahma 12:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, not a problem. --StoatBringer 13:05, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your nomination of List of temples of CJC[edit]

Request for Speedy Keep - Please consider withdrawing your nomination of this page. Although the creator of this page created it in such a way that it was mostly a list of external links, the subject matter has significant possibility of encyclopedic content, and the editing that has gone on so far has been significant. Bommerang.jpg copyright question[edit]

Hello. I like the image found at Image:Boomerang.jpg and I noticed the use of an obsolete copyright tag. Would you mind if I updated the copyright template to {{Copyrighted free use}}? Or would you prefer to update it yourself to either {{PD-self}} or {{PD-user}}? Thanks for considering this. User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 04:11, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

I noticed that you tagged the page The Queen Elizabeth's High School for speedy deletion with the reason "non-notable school". However, "non-notable school" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use WP:PROP if you still want the article to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 18:14, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Mount Oakan[edit]

Hi there StoatBringer. Is there anything in particular that you thought needed cleaning up in the article Mount Oakan? Maybe you want to specify what needs cleaning up either on my talk page or the discussion page for the article. I would be happy to receive your input since I just started the article. Thanks! imars (talk) 13:23, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Heysham stone graves.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Heysham stone graves.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 01:59, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please claim your upload(s): File:European black elderberry fruit.jpg[edit]

Hi, This media was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices,

However, due to changes in the copyright situation in some jurisdictions, there is a need to ensure media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed. It would be appreciated if you were able to confirm that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, Fully completeing the {{information}} block, and leaving an acknowledgement on the file description page to indicate that you've accepted the license shown (and updated the {{information}} accordingly. If you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created here.

If the {{img-unclaimed}} tag is present, please update it to {{img-claimed}} if you have carried out the steps noted above.
If the {{Media by uploader}} tag is present, please add |claimed=yes to the tag, if you have carried out the steps noted above.

If you don't want to keep your media on English Wikipedia, please nominate it for deletion under Criteria G7 of the Criteria for Speedy deletion ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:47, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
