Conference/Division titles[edit]

I want to start a little discussion on this part of the infobox to hopefully achieve some consensus here. I was the editor that first added this info ("Conference titles"), and I'll say that my original intention was to list championship appearances, which would today be considered conference titles. It was rightly pointed out by 207.47.248.186 that this was a-historical, since the league was not always organized into conferences. Flibirigit then changed it to Division titles, and changed the dates to correspond to when the Blades finished the regular season atop their division, which is not unreasonable, although perhaps becomes a problem by the 1990s when there was also a divisional playoff champion (i.e. the two finalists were the division winners).

Can we discuss here what would be the most appropriate solution?

Is it worth trying to list finals appearances if this did not always historically constitute a type of 'championship'? Is it confusing to list division championships when this ultimately has both regular season and playoff connotations? Right now I'm interested in hearing others' perspectives! The best place for such a discussion would be at Template talk:Infobox ice hockey team with a notice placed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey. Interpretation of the fields in the infobox extend far beyond this team, or the Western Hockey League. Flibirigit (talk) 20:54, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, fair enough! Thanks. Other justin (talk) 16:42, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
