Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Image tagging

Hi. I notice that Image:Tiffany Amber Thiessen00.jpg which you uploaded has been listed on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. I see that you say the photo " it was printed in the magazine FHM, should bee in public domain." Could you please explain this comment? I don't see anything in the FHM article about them doing releasing their photos to the public domain, which would certainly be remarkable enough for such a commercial magazine that it should be mentioned if they do so. Public domain

Wow, I just noticed the text you put on Image:Lesley Gore, French EP.jpg, "Picture found on eBay, should be of fair use when a record cover is public domain." I'm guessing that the problem might be that you don't know what "public domain" means. Take a look at that article, and fair use, Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. You'll see, for example, that for something like this image, one might wish to claim fair use exactly because it is not public domain. In this particular case, the appropriate tag would probably be "albumcover". Please review those links before you upload any more images, and after you've gotten a better understanding of the matter you might wish to go back and edit some of your previous Wikipedia:Image description pages. Playboy

Recently you added a couple names to the list of celebrities that have appeared in Playboy. On the talk page for that article it was agreed that we should limit the lists to no more than ten women per category (Film, TV, etc). Every couple of months when some celeb makes it into the magazine, people come along and add the name of that celeb in. To cut down on this happening, I've put comments into the celeb sections that read: "ATTENTION EDITORS: Please see the talk page Re: "Celebrities" before adding another name to this list." Normally the people that add names are anon's with only an IP address, so contacting them and getting a response to my question isn't going to happen. But you, a registered user, just added two names and either ignored or did not read the "ATTENTION" comment. So, what I'd like to know is: What can I do to make this more obvious? Also, did you not read it or just ignore it?

It's not a big thing, I know. But it is frustrating making the same edits to the same section of the same article every couple months and I'd like to find a way to cut down on having to do this. Thanks, Dismas|^(talk) 04:15, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
