Norman Davis[edit]

Does anyone know anything about "Norman Davis, university intellectual and prominent social work advocate in Ontario"? I've spent most of my life in Cobourg and haven't heard of this man. A few searches and the only likely match I could find was on a webpage for Trent Rugby. Is he more more significant than the average Cobourger, or is it a little bit of vanity? -- NormanEinstein 19:54, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Norman Davis is an Academic All-Canada (http://www.trentrugby.com/news), which is a great achievement, and one that puts him in the academic/fooseball elite of Ontario. He is also a leader in incorporating university study for the homeless, and those without a home.

Elizabeth Smart[edit]

Should we not add a bit about the famous Poet Elizabeth Smart? She attended Hatfield Hall in Cobourg back in the 20's- it's even mentioned in the Wikipedia entry about her. She wrote "By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept"

Mentioning that Elizabeth Smart (author) attended Hatfield Hall (Cobourg) is definitely appropriate in her article and the article about the school, but not in this article about the town of Cobourg. --NormanEinstein 17:59, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Const. Chris Garrett[edit]

Const. Chris Garrett, an 18-year veteran of the Cobourg police force, was responding to a 911 call on May 15, 2004, when he had his throat slashed with a hunting knife in the parking lot of the town's former hospital.

I believe this is worth mentioning for the reason that this is was an unbelievable case in which an a criminal didn't attack an officer upon fleeing or was trapped but deliberately made a false 911 call in an attempt to kill an officer(s). I can't speak for the U.S., but in Canada that's just unimaginable! It was a mind boggling and dreadful episode for the Town of Cobourg.

I think it is a notable event in Cobourg's history that did garner national and even international attention. Because of this, a brief note should be made about this incident with a link to a personal page on the constable. However, it should be limited to a simple mention because this page is about basic and general information regarding the town.
