Oakville / Ford Drive rework[edit]

This needs serious work before it get's put in the article. The TESR basically went nowhere with any part of its preferred design, and the Bot Construction page is completely dateless (though it can at least be used for describing what work is being done. -- Floydian ^τ _¢ 02:47, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In Oakville, improvements are being made to the Highway 403/QEW/Ford Drive interchange starting in 2016. As of 2017, traffic using the existing loop ramp in the NE corner to access Highway 403/QEW will be directed onto a new overpass instead of sharing the existing overpass with westbound Highway 403 traffic. From November 2016 to 2020, the 1970s-era bridges carrying QEW traffic across Ford Drive and the eastbound ramp to Highway 403 were demolished and replaced by new wider structures which can accommodate future HOV lanes and high-mast lighting.[1] At the present Highway 403 only connects to the QEW west of the interchange, but flyover ramps are being proposed from Highway 403 to the QEW east of that junction using the existing right-of-way which would allow for a direct freeway connection from Milton to south Mississauga.^[1]

Traffic volume?[edit]

I'm not familiar with the conventions for road articles, but it seems odd that there is no mention of the average traffic volume, as there is for Highway 401. It's not as busy as the 401 of course but this seems like relevant information to include for any major highway. Spicy (talk) 00:57, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The table on Highway 401 isn't common for other road articles, but you're right that there should be some mention. I'll add it in a bit when I get on my laptop. For reference, the highest volume in 2016 was between Eglinton and Hurontario (180,000), while the lowest was at the westernmost end of the highway (20,900). - Floydian ^τ _¢ 03:42, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
