Image Tagging Image:Leonelfer.jpg[edit]

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Leonelfer.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ~MDD4696 01:01, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please provide supporting citations for your additions to the List of ethnic slurs article. I am especially suprised by "Minoplis" - that an English phrase be used for Haitians in the DR. Thank you Guettarda 00:00, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Coronel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Coronel.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Message of sympathy![edit]

OK, so you shouldn't have sworn but you do have my sympathy on this issue - it's happened to me lots of times. You do your utmost to trace the origin of an image (even getting the permission of others who have used it) and STILL they delete it! What more can we do? I can only conclude that Wiki-admin must be petrified of litigation (sounds like they have the US mindset, the US being a country which seems to be paralysed by fear of litigation) or that they might be traffic wardens/cops in real life, hence their love of slapping a "ticket" on our contributions, lol!!  ;-)) I do try and explain that terms such as 'GFDL' & 'GNU' mean nothing to me (even when I look them up to see what they mean!) so quoting this at me doesn't help - we need real practical assistance on this issue, which I never seem to get - just warnings and deletions. Any Wiki-adminners out there who are able to speak to us dodos in 'layman's terms' please - it would help?! Jaycey 11:51, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:DRshield.jpg)[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:DRshield.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

Brangelina.jpg[edit]

Please provide a more comprehensive explanation for your public domain licensing for the picture Image:Brangelina.jpg you recently uploaded. Sloan21 17:12, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I take from your answer that the picture is indeed mislabeled. However, if these images were released by a Dominican group with the specific intent to make them widely available and giving up any copyright for them, I have no objections to show it at all. I would actually urge you to upload all four pictures to Wikimedia Commons. You could use the {{PD-release}} tag, if you write a licencing explanation like you did on my talk page. "Place Vandalism Here"[edit]

Regarding difficult editors, "Welcome to WELSHopedia" -- I too (User:Wikid77) have faced contentious edits from the difficult one, with 10 articles twice re-formatted, for peculiar changes contrary to a standard format documented months ago for hundreds of year-articles. Some people pride themselves on "31,500" Wikipedia edits, as they "save time" ignoring what other people are discussing and coordinating... Aware there is no way to stop IP-address users, it does no good to try to force anyone to cooperate, but perhaps create a new article of the topic, or later, reverse the peculiar changes for long-term coordinated results. WP is a good case study in psychopathic behavior, and quite valuable in that regard, as a look at current human realities in "civilized" nations: there is great potential to learn to "dodge and weave" when dealing with others. -Wikid77 06:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Bridgwayi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bridgwayi.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Burgal&co.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Fair use rationale for Image:Jbalaguer.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jbalaguer.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Orphaned non-free media (Image:GeorgesDR2.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GeorgesDR2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:31, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brigadaplus.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Brigadaplus.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:41, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Picoduartemap.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Picoduartemap.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:35, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Platanoinundado.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Platanoinundado.jpg.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Platanoinundado.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Platanoinundado.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
