Chakras are the points in the Human Central Nervous System (CNS) where nerves intersect and branch off[edit]

From a scientific standpoint, Chakras are the points in the Human Central Nervous System (CNS) where nerves intersect and branch off, The 'energy' flowing is the electrical impulses sent along nerve channels. Such as in the Solar 'Plexus.'--Dr zoidberg590 (talk) 15:37, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Chakras are now the biggest focus of charlatans[edit]

The following link from a recognized and qualified Sanskrit scholar, exposes what every practitioner of Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu Tantra already knows - that the chakras are a visualisation - not an existing subtle structure. All the early texts cited in the History section state this. The idea of chakras being actual structures only dates from the modern era.

As with most of my "Talk" posts, this is in Talk, because there are so many people with personal self-interest in chakras being descriptive, that my post would quickly be removed. 162.205.217.211 (talk) 02:51, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You may very well be right. Good luck, though; there's so much overlap between colourful "healing" rituals and theatre, I doubt anyone could impose regulations on such concepts without being accused of trampling on freedom-of-expression and/or -religion rights. Let's face it: In a free society, people are allowed to delude themselves however they wish—and they do.

Personally, I'd be much more concerned about creepy, wealth-obsessed sociopaths convincing vast hoardes of undereducated voters that they give two cents about anyone's interests but their own. But I digress, probably. – AndyFielding (talk) 20:45, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry, those were both me. I forgot to re-indent after the linebreak—and for some odd reason, WP's mobile editor doesn't let us edit our own Talk posts. ("Wikipedia, the Talk pages no one can edit—at least on a phone." LOL) – AndyFielding (talk) 20:49, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can, actually, just select 'View as Wikipedia page' and you suddenly get edit links to every talk thread. Daft as a brush but it works. Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:06, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The 'existing subtle structure' you're looking for is the human central nervous system. (See my above talk comment) --Dr zoidberg590 (talk) 15:42, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Chakras section[edit]

"Ayurveda (3): In Ayurveda, there are three main chakras, known as the "Marmas," which are considered to be the focal points of the physical, mental, and spiritual energies in the body."

No. Ayurveda there are 108 marma points. They are not chakras. Not same. Chakra means wheel.

There are 3 doshas in body. Different.

Sceptic section[edit]

The sceptical section refers to a website that is self-published and doesn't even list the "shaky" research. Can't we do better than [1]https://www.edinburghskeptics.co.uk/skepdayJan/Chakras for a sceptical note? In the mean time, I'm tempted to delete this section for not being based on a reliable source. This article, while itself not a great source, does sum up the research there is on chakras. PizzaMan ♨♨♨ 22:08, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite of some sections (content is all fine)[edit]

There are some sections (especially towards the bottom) that I think need a rewrite. Grammatically they are sketchy at best and either way do not have an encyclopedic tone. I don’t intend to outright change any information or content but if I could get a second opinion on the Chakra#Buddhist tantra section’s state before I do a rewrite that would be ideal.
