You just made my day. :) But someone else beat you to the clock on the doctrines section changes when I wrote that SGI is culturally insensitive despite the SGI Charter. My reasons for doing so is that sometimes culture and religion are highly intergrated and what SGI had done damages both of them.Thanks anyway. Gammadion

Thanks again for editing the SGI page, domo arigato. I wonder if the term critics is considered a harsher term than necessary. If the general public was proselytised to by SGI, the comments from the public at large (in terms of my own countrymen) were mainly SGI was fearmongering. Wow, I wonder who those vandals are given that there are just two others working on that page at the moment... <g>. Carlj7, I think we've communicated before, but I'm not exactly sure anymore. Anyhow, I'm trying to work with (or, at least, I thought I was <g>) Gammadion and the other vandal (uses the handle Ruby) to make the article on SGI Wiki-worthy. I'd really appreciate it if you could help, especially as someone else Japan-based... I hoping you might have access to some resources I don't have. Anyhow, I've been trying to get Gammadon and Ruby to fix their contributions themselves by encouraging them to write in a non-POV manner while resisting my own inclination to overdo the bias (for the record, I am ex-SGI and have no sympathies for the organization, though I have no bones to pick with ordinary members even if I disagree with their choice of religious organizations to associate with).

I have rewritten the intro to SGI, but put it on the Talk page first to bounce off the other participants. I agree with your sentiments about working in the list of purported cults, though I don't think a blatant cross reference is warranted there (better to make it a less prominent link or save it for the body text). If you have time, please have a look and share your ideas.

Personally, I think the whole SGI article needs to be restructured and reworked , and separate articles created for the topics that tend to get bogged down in details. I also think a separate article for Soka Gakkai (the Japanese organization) is warranted, and that it would be a good place to mention and describe Soka Gakkai issues that are particular to Japan (scandals, political involvement, etc.). One problem of mentioning these, though, is that sources need to be rigorously cited, otherwise pro-Soka Gakkai contributors will remove unfavorable information very quickly. "wa ga yo tare zo"

Hi! About the space between "wa ga". Indeed nowadays, "waga" is always together, but in classical Japanese, "wa" (= watashi) and "ga" (= no) were two separate words. (cf. "kimi ga yo", the national anthem, and the use of "ga" in many place names, Chigasaki, Kasumigaura, etc.) Just like "kono" was actually two separate words in older Japanese. That's the reason I separated the "wa" and "ga". I am of the opinion that when transliterating classical texts, the words should be separated... but I haven't touched the article again, so it's up to you.

See the second example in the dictionary entry for its separation.

By the way, about changing the "su" to "zu" in the kanji version. I think whoever who put it there in the first place tried to omit all the dakuten, because otherwise "to" should be "do", "so" should be "zo", "shi" should be "ji".

Hi! Thanks for the reply. About "我" again... I think one has to remember that this is some very early classical Japanese - how many of their structures do we know to judge by how often we see it?

But here's an example. This is from 万葉集, a work around the time of いろは歌. The 5-7-5-7-7 structure shows the wa pronunciation.

子持山　若かへるでの　もみつまで　寝もと我は思ふ　汝はあどか思ふ

in hiragana

If you'll notice at the very top of the discussion page someone commented that canon was up for interpretation as well, I think you even replied to it. It helps to prevent edit wars when you acknowledge that the POV is different for everyone and that it would be best for them to make their cases in the talk page and not in the topic. Yes, but just because someone hasn't voiced more of their concerns doesn't mean their initial concern is invalid, or that others may also have those same concerns. The thing is, with more games coming out the probablity on this sort of thing has the potential to go up. My vandalism

Carl, sorry about what I did to the Geisha page. I really respect Wikipedia and use it daily, I didn't intend to cause any problems for anyone. I had a co-worker asking me questions about something generic and I referred him to this site. I tried to explain how it worked, but he was skeptical. I proved it to him by adding a comment (innappropriate to show there are no filters.) I didn't think it would be seen by anyone... I simply did it to prove a point. I won't do it in the future, however.

BTW, I'd like to thank you for your curteous and polite message to me. It is appreciated. Hope you have a good day, and thank you for helping keep Wiki free from (malicious) vandals. ;)

Thanks for fixing vandalism

Thanks for fixing the vandalism of my embedded notes in the Nichiren Shoshu article. It's interesting that people who make such changes almost always do so annonymously and without citing sources. I find the altering of material that is expressly written as a stance and signed, to be egregeous, because it amounts to putting words into someone else's mouth. If they want to argue a point or make a rebuttal of some sort, why not do it on the talk page and take responsibility for an assertion by signing it? Regardless, thanks. It's also worth considering that Spanish mariners exploiting the fisheries of the north Atlantic, across to Newfoundland, used many points on the west coast of Munster as bases from probably the mid-1400's (pre-Columbus) up to the mid-1600's. For example, before it was burnt in the late Tudor Reconquest of Ireland the town of Dingle (west Kerry) was described as "Spanish built"; also, the fisheries infrastructure of the town of Baltimore (west Cork) appears to have been established by the Spanish.

Another element in the equation is that the population of west Munster (including Kerry and Cork) suffered heavy casualties in the Elizabethan wars of 1580-83 and 1595-1603. Perhaps randy Spanish fishermen played a disproportionate part in the repopulation of the country. Or is that a case of, 2+2=5?

Sorry to disagree, but I think I'm right about Clawgrip. Yes, "Mario" technically did not exist as a character until Nintendo of America named him, but the sprite looked and behaved the same, regardless of the name. hello carl, i noticed you deleted the second "you will" from the examples list. I created a little table that might explain why there were 2 "you will"s. You see one was singular (when you refers to a single person, "Will you answer that phone?") and the other was plural, (sometimes expressed as "ya'll"). "Vandalism" and Nietzsche's Moustache

Well thanks for "shaving off the 'vandalism' like an old 'stache" (yeah, thanks for gracing the world with your clever summaries) but I would like to point out a few things. If you don't mind looking at the entry for moustaches you will notice a portion that reads,

"In some cases, the moustaches are so prominently identified with a single individual that it could be identified with them without any further identifying traits, such as in the case of Adolf Hitler or Friedrich Nietzsche."

Also, if you would look at the Walrus moustache page, you'll notice a picture of Friedrich Nietzsche himself, with a caption noting his "very distinctive walrus moustache."
