Both the USGS page and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology page (both cited below) say that the black duck is a large dabbling duck so I changed it from the incorrect "medium-sized".

Identity of drake in lead photo[edit]

I suspect the male is a a 2nd or third generation hybrid: a backcross with a Mallard X Black Duck hybrid. It has green in the crown--a feature not shown by pure Black Ducks. Suggest we replace the photo. Natureguy1980 (talk) 03:54, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
