Re: Tamia's newest album's singles, this was deleted:

"They have yet to cross over to mainstream radio, but it may only be a matter of time before Tamia is a household name."

What would be a more NPOV way of stating these facts? I mean, these two songs aren't really pop hits, but they are moderately successful R&B/urban hits. THAT'S what I was trying to get across with that sentence. Though Tamia has never had a real "pop" success of her own (other than the techno remix of "Stranger In My House"), her popularity has steadily maintained itself and slowly grown through these remixes, guest appearances, duets. For someone who's been around 8 years and only had one real "hit", she hasn't become a flash in the pan or a has-been (like what happened to Mase and how many others over the years...). She's in the perfect position to begin a successful pop crossover. But, so far, it hasn't happened. Any comments from the deleter on how to get all this into the article but not have it come across as POV (I didn't think the above was) would be welcome.

whistle register?? ==

i love tamia im a big fan but i didnt know she can sing in the whistle register. which song does she sing it in? give samples or tell the songs.

I did some research and the highest I could find her singing is G#5 in chest. And have heard of C6 as her highest head note. Myke 05:55, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Myke, you still need to identify the songs so that others can listen and decide whether you are correct...So far this can be false.

The problem is with Tamia and a few other whistle register singers, what she does live is different than published. Christina Aguolera for example, first sang whistle register on a scale in concert (she climbed high , VERY high), if one doesn't count her singing Mariah Carey's Vision Of Love at ten (and singing every riff, lick and note).:
Yeah Christina Aguilera sang the in the whistle register live a couple of times. Her highest live I think is still G#6. But is there any real proof of her singing Vision of Love and all the whistle notes as the same notes? Tamia hits G#5 in Tell Me Who. I can even tell you it was at about 3:44 into the song and on the lyric "Tell". All you need to do is ask. But Ive never heard Tamia sing very high in head or falsetto. Parts of it was on VH-1's Driven (for Christina Aguilera). I am VERY familiar with that song (I love Tamia). I have heard her sing the High C, and at the Ladies First concert, she went high (ok, it wasn't Mariah), but high enough I think she qualifies. Antares33712 14:35, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I still havent found any high head notes by her but I found a clip of her hitting A5 in chest. heres the link Spend My Life With You. So thats a new high note in chest for her. Myke 09:44, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unless someone can post a clip of her singing at least E6, I think she should be removed from the Whistle register singers category. Myke 05:24, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There needs to be reference that Tamia can whistle. Kudeh 20/11/06 12:31

So what is Tamia's highest note in chest and in head? What are the songs and what time into the song? What about You Put A Move On My Heart, At the end she goes "Sugar I knew from the start, you put a move on me, you put a move on my HEAAAARRTT" How high is that note for HEART? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.150.49.154 (talk) 20:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biography Information[edit]

The basic biographical information on this page is wrong. Tamia's middle name is Marilyn and she was born in 1975, not 1976. I think when she first came out her label wanted her to appear younger than she was. I found an old magazine article where she was celebrating her "21st" birthday in 1997 but in recent interview and articles she has changed this. She recently celebrated her 32nd birthday.

If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true.
